Job Purpose
To assist the management team in the effective running of the branch including planning, managing and overseeing all aspects of store operations in order to accomplish responsibility of customer satisfaction, staff development and to achieve sales and profit targets.
Note: Please do not apply for this position if you do not have at least 6 months as an Assistant Manager within a retail environment
Key Responsibilities
People management to include:
- Scheduling of daily tasks and rotas ensuring high levels of efficiency in store
- Preparing and delivering team briefings ensuring that targets and information from Head Office and/or Area Managers is communicated to everyone
- Motivating, delegating tasks and monitoring the team to deliver high standards of presentation and customer service
- Performance management of the team, recognising high achievers and addressing poor performers
- Ensure all staff follow company and store guidelines (e.g. dress code, attendance etc), following procedure where rules are broken
- Conducting back to work interviews where necessary
- Providing accurate payroll information on time to the HR Department
- Manage the annual holiday plan for all staff based on the company schedule and sales target
- Assist Store Manager in recruiting, including interviewing candidates
- Training and development of the store team
- Complete all leavers paperwork and report to HR within timelines
- Make efficient master ROTA based on store hour (FTE) budget and sales target
- Make efficient weekly ROTA based on holidays, absence, work volume and sales targets
- Make efficient daily ROTA based on hourly sales, work volume whilst ensuring that work is completed on time

Visual merchandising management to include:
- Rectify errors on cleaning and maintain the clean shop floor
- Check all POPs and maintain correctly, based on rules and instructions from SSC
- Complete weekly layout plan as planned within due time
- Maintain efficient replenishment systems to keep volume levels at all fixtures
- Use daily store check list and maintain high shop floor standards
- Maintain attractive displays in terms of coordination, season and colour order
Stock management to include:
- Organise boxes by sub divisions and items to avoid missing colour and sizes on the shop floor
- Check delivery procedure and report errors to SSC within due times
- Complete all store to store transfers within due time
- Participate in stock counts and stock takes on a regular basis, investigating losses and taking remedial action where necessary
Routine office work to include:
- Understand rules and procedures of all till operations
- Key holding responsibilities including opening and closing the store, emergency call outs etc
- Deal with money according to procedure to avoid internal and external incidents
- Ensures high ‘back of house’ standards e.g. well organised office, stock room etc
- Ensure security measures are followed to minimise stock loss
- Check maintenance issues and take action to rectify immediately
- Store all documentation correctly
Sales/Profit management to include:
- Analyse reasons for sales and investigate abnormal results in order to suggest improvement plans
- Analyse reasons of each account to make suggestions for maximum profitability
- Assist the Store Manager with the end of month layout and stock estimation plan based on model plan so to make inventory value target and target stock for each item
- Complete price change within due time following procedure
Operational deliverables to include:
- Liases with Store Manager and Area Manager to ensure maximum profitability and sales of the store
- Ensures all store procedures are carried out in line with the company guidelines
- Builds effective relationships with all SSC functions, 3rd party providers and centre managers/high street committees etc
Health and Safety to include:
- Assisting the Store Manager with all aspects of the Health & Safety within the store i.e. risk assessments, evacuations, first aid etc

Benefits and Salary
Salary dependant on skills and experience, maximum salary £17,500, minimum salary £13,500
